Sorry I've been so lazy lately! No purchases to really take note of except for this lovely Review skirt which I got for $44 down from $149 at Myer. Yay! Love the colour.

Also found a gorgeous little navy blue dress in Valley Girl of all places. Think I'll wear it on Friday so hopefully pictures soon.

Other than that I haven't really been upto much. Work has been good so far, I am quite enjoying it and the people I work with are great so far. The pressure to make sales is on, but I think the majority of that pressure is self imposed.

Went out for cocktails last Saturday night, fun times! Long Island Ice Tea's at Cloudland are the best! Yumm.

Lock 'n' Load - West End

D and I had a lovely sleep in on Saturday morning and then wandered over the Lock 'n' Load in West End for breakfast. I knew it was meant to be when I found a park straight away right in front of the cafe on busy busy Boundary St.!

D had a pork and fennel sausage salad (not on the menu) which had fresh baby spinach, tomato, roasted mushrooms, poached egg, hash brown and he ordered bacon for it as well. I think the next time we go I'll order this one! He had a lemongrass and ginseng tea which smelt wonderful!

I had the vege loaded which had haloumi, avocado salad, tomato, mushrooms, hash browns, beans, toast (turkish bread) and eggs. I was naughty and added a side of bacon. It was a-mazing. Accompanied by the yummiest chai latte I've had in awhile! I'm keen to go back next weekend hehe.

The most popular breakfast cafe in West End is the Gun Shop Cafe and although I've only been there once I much prefer Lock 'n' Load. For one, you have to line up outside Gun Shop for ages and the tables are so close together you could pick off your neighbouring table's plate!

Toy Story 3.. 3D

I won't spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it yet, but like all Pixar's, it is brilliant. I love it more than the first two and thank goodness for that! It took 10 whole years! The animation is obviously magnificent and 3D adds such a wonderful depth to it. The mini movie at the beginning was very cute, but I liked the one before Up! much better.

Like all Pixar's there is always more to the movie than what you see. This one tugged at heart strings and I got very teary in some scenes. Although I enjoyed the movie immensely and had fits of giggles throughout I felt somewhat sad after it. It made me thing of the loved ones that have been lost along the way.

But the funny parts, oh and there were many. Maybe I'm easily amused but it was just so funny. I'll leave you with two words that had me giggling non stop and smiling now when I think about it. Tortilla. Spanish.

Some new characters were introduced, and these babies were by far my favourites! So freaking adorable.

So this bag is on sale and I think I really want it! It's nothing special but I don't have anything in this shape. I just hope the leather is really buttery soft or I'll be sad. It's currently at least 25% off storewide, I don't know if I should get it now or wait and see if it gets reduced further (this usually happens straight after I make a purchase grrr).. It's just lovely and big (huge really, I love my huge bags) and slouchy-ish but still has structure. Gah I know it's just over a hundred I just don't want it to be a regret purchase and not use it...

So I'm sitting on the bus on the way home. Feeling energized from my long weekend of nothingness despite not being able to sleep last night because of Ds tossing, turning and bulldozer snoring. Am starving and also freaking out about all the various targets we have to make in the working week! I wanted a challenge - a challenge I'll get! My whinge for the day - asians walk so freaking slow! I'm asian so I can pay out my own kind but strolling along whilst linking arms with 4 other people is not consderate for people who actually have somewhere better to be!

That is all. Now to enjoy the fact that I have a seat on this very full bus and we're probably goinf to have a few drinkies with my training team after work on Friday yay! Bonding! Lol.

Saint Bracelets!

Although you can't really tell from the photos, the beads are little glass pearls and have that lovely pearl effect. The first charm is Madonna/ Mother Mary.

These last two are the same bracelet but had different saints on each side. St Paul represents truth and St George is for courage to overcome life's challenges. Hence him on the horse fighting the dragon!

Mum is going to try to get some more different charms when she goes to Malaysia next week. So there are more on the way!

Although I'd heard snippets of their music I never sat down to really listen to them. On my lazy Sunday morning, I had a sudden urge to YouTube Il Divo. And call me nanna, I freaking adore them. Will have to d/l one of their albums (via Bigpond Music of course) for my iPhone. The harmonies are beautiful and their voices are so strong! Some of the clips were at a colosseum in Rome and goodness, it was stunning. I guess it doesn't help that these four fellows are quite easy on the eyes if you know what I mean.

The Point Restaurant, South Bank

Some friends and I headed over to Southbank Friday night for dinner (it was so freaking cold). The rest were off to see SATC 2 but I gave it a miss. It wasn't good enough to watch twice. Strolled along and decided on The Point Restaurant as it had a decent variety and there were a few things which we were all keen on trying. We had garlic bread and "turkish bread doused with olive oil, roasted fennel seeds and house dip" to start with. I can't remember what the house dip was, I think it was truffled white bean dip. I loved it, delicious. Came with a little dish of olives which was all mine since no one else liked them. Hooray for me! The garlic bread was so beautifully crispy, warm and dripping with butter. Just the way I love it hehe.

Two of us had the barramundi with saffron potatoes and a warm cherry tomato and watercress salad. Delicious, I couldn't taste the saffrom in the potatoes though.. They must have used very, very little. The other had a wagyu beef cheek pasta with chorizo and a braised chicken was also ordered. The pasta looked amazing and though it was an entree, the serving size was very generous. The chicken was nothing special apparently. My barramundi was wonderful. Very fresh and silky. I love, LOVE my barra!

Overall, nothing really stood out. Expected service, though the food was quite impressive . It's alfresco so a people watching type atmosphere, so cold though last night!

Queenslanders across the state are rejoicing. I heard on the radio that this is the last weekend of the year? It will actually be the first long weekend I can rightfully enjoy. Goodbye SHIFTWORK! I can say I definitely do NOT miss it. Not one bit. I do miss my reception girls though! Seems the banking/finance industry is very male dominated.

The first week has been really good. A lot of information but it has also been fun and the group that I've been training with are awesome. It's great that we all get along really well and when we went our separate ways on the floor the other day, we were still helping each other out. I mean, being stuck in a room for 8hrs a day, every day, some sort of bonding is bound to happen.

The drawback to my new location in the city - SHOPPING! I have made at least one key purchase each day. I go for a stroll with the intention of "browsing" but fail. I think I should just leave my wallet at the office when I go. I have been reassured that this crazy phase will pass though thankfully!
Bought this pretty little thing from Mimco - the Nouveau Whimsy Barrette. I think it will look better in my hair once it's longer. Also picked up some great bargains from Portmans. 2x cardigans in grey and navy for $14, a huge black cocktail ring for $3 and a gorgeous, soft tee for $7! Stoked.

Hidden Gem

Mum found a Covergirl Nailslicks in our bathroom cabinet. Neither of us know how or when it got there! I tried it tonight - it's beautiful. Like Ulta3's watermelon but calmer/darker. Watermelon is it's crazy younger sister. The colour sorry, is called Mauvelicious and apparently it has a built in top coat. The bottle is only a tiny 11ml though!

Red Makes You Go Faster

Had the urge to op shop briefly today, popped into the Salvos nearby and found a gorgeous red pashmina. It's brand new, the tags are still attached and it was just $6. Yay! Had a pretty good look around but not much else caught my eye. Might wear it to the movies tonight - SATC. D actually wants to watch it. Probably for the sex, haha. Anyway should be good. Pasta, SATC and snuggles.

Poor D spent all of last night in the emergency ward because his clients had decided to swallow rocks. Yes, rocks, the type you find on the ground. Gotta give it to them for creativity. I must admit swalling rocks has never crossed my mind before!

2. Where can I find black, skinny leg but work appropriate pants? I prefer a stiffer fabric but obviously not denim - help!

Waiting On Some News

Assuming that the news is good, I shall reward myself. I think that it's time I invest in a pair of proper sunglasses. I've gone through numerous pairs of Sportsgirl ones and random aviators because they're cheap and therefore I don't feel obligated to look after them very well. This results in lots of drops, falls, crushes, cracks and loses. Also, none of these said sunglasses offer proper protection (I assume the high end sunglasses do? -please let me know if I'm wrong about this) which should be the main reason to wear them in the first place!

So far I've got my eye on a Chloe pair and a Versace pair. But what I've fallen in love with is this gorgeous Chanel. It has little bows! The Versace pair I liked had a bow as well, but I thought it a bit tacky. The Chanel bow is much more classy.. Thoughts? And does anyone know how much it might be?! I haven't had a chance to pop into Myer or David Jones yet..

My One Day Weekend

Had a delicious sleep in this morning, woke up to D scratching my head. Ok, yes. That sounds very weird/strange but it is my favourite-est thing ever. Him gently scratching my head or playing with my hair. Our bargaining revolves around this, ie. I'll do the dishes if you scratch my head for 10mins. Haha, yeah, we're weird.

Popped into Borders to use my voucher, but alas. I wanted Gordon Ramsay's Fast Food.

They only had one copy left in hardcover (not a fan of hardcover, so heavy and chunky!) AND it was damaged. I mean yes, ok, I was getting 40% off but that won't fix the damage :( so I didn't get it. I checked bookdepository.com and I can get the paperback for under $20 anyway so I'll order that sometime this week. Spent awhile browsing through and reading the recipes. Delish and very do-able for a non-cook like me. Quick, simple and yummy dishes! I don't have the patience for the complex stuff.

Also came across some cute travel lit - La vie Parisienne by Janelle McCullough. There are cute illustrations and bits and pieces throughout. I wanted to order it from bookdepository.com but they're out of stock! But I checked my local library and I have placed one on hold, hooray! Saved myself $20+ though I might purchase it if I love love it.

I like reading about Paris/France, not because it's chic, but because it makes me feel closer to my auntie who recently passed. She spent that last 10yrs living in Lyon, France and anything french (or expensive, hehe) is like my connection to her. I miss her so much.

My dream destination (ok I have a long list of them), but the one I really want to do while I'm in my twenties is New York. I think I have the movie, I Love You New York, floating around my computer somewhere but would love it if someone could recommend me any travel lit books on New York? I know there's lots on Paris, but surely someone would have their account of The Big Apple!

Has anyone tried them? Any good? I saw a nice, shiny, new bucket of BYS nail polishes at my Chemist for $4.95. There were some beautiful colours, the ones that caught my eye was a light grey (creme) and black with gold micro glitter, looked gorgeous! Just wanted to know how well they last, but I guess for $5 you can't really go wrong. Might get the black/gold one I didn't want to put it back down!

Portmans Purchase & Kafe Meze

I was a good girl and only bought the Origami Trim Marino dress from Portmans. Having said that the sale lasts till Tuesday. I'm not out of the danger zone, yet.

I was a bit torn as to whether I should've gotten it or not but a quick Twitter poll with the help of Mez sorted me out!

D and I went to Kafe Meze for lunch. Parking was horrid thanks to Paniyiri. Atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, such a cute little place. The service was also warm and wonderful though our meals took awhile to come out. They were full though. We had the saganaki- perfect. Grilled octopus- little tough and chewy for my liking but I'm used to baby octopus which is a lot more tender. I would've liked a bit more flavour but it was still quite nice. Lamb Lunch Plate. Generous size but again the lamb seemed to be lacking in flavour. Although tender and well cooked it didn't taste as though it had been marinated? The Greek salad and haloumi that came with it was wonderful with generou doses of feta and olives. I had a lovely glass of Verdelho which is the only thing I got a picture of! I completely forgot to take a photo of the food because I was too excited to eat it haha.

My charms came in the mail this week. St George & St Paul are back to back on one, and Mother Mary by herself on the other, as pictured. I ordered 2 of each, but only one of each arrived. The seller is sending the other two tomorrow yay! Still have to decide what colour glass pearls to order! I'm so slack but it has been such a weird, weird week. I have also finally decided on a name for my online store - excited! Need to design little tags to attach to the bracelets as well. And to design a snazzy looking online store. The name is top secret, you'll be sure to hear it soon as it launches!

Damn you kikki.K. You knew about my weakness for stationery, then you go make it adorable! What's a girl to do? I don't really like your gel pens, I bought 2 and they both died on me within a week. I definitely do NOT need anymore notepads. The letter set is cute, but I don't want to send them away, I want people to write on them and send them to me! So I think I might just narrow it down to the following:

Erasers $4.95. Nevermind I have a whole shoebox of erasers which I can't bear to use because they're the super cute ones from Japan that the Japanese students always brought for us. These I guess, will have to join that ridiculous collection.

Gel Pen $4.95. Didn't I just say they sucked? This one can't possibly suck. It has an elephant, lion AND monkey on it. Can't go wrong right.

Treasure Chest $49.95. "This gorgeous Treasure Chest, including drawers and different compartments, is filled with a mixed selection of stationery such as a mini writing set and stickers. A secret compartment allows space for love letters or other private notes. Makes a fantastic gift for the young and young at heart." Description says it all. This is a must.

Pencil Case $16.95. The practicality of this item and it's cuteness makes it a win-win. Pencil case, toiletries, "stuff", I get happy just looking at the picture. Can't wait for the real thing!

Grey Lead Pencils $5.95. Just 'cause. I need pencils if I'm going to be using the erasers right? Oh.. I'm not using the erasers...

These items come to a grand total of $82.75. On stationery that I don't need. This is bad news, I think I will need physical restraint from going loopy in the store when I visit it next.

Whinge

I have Friday off but D is working from 1pm till 4pm the next day. I know, lame bf right. So we're going to go out for breakfast and I think I'll go get my fringe trimmed, it's a bit out of control. Just trying to decide where to go. I wanna stay close to home but all the awesome breakfast places are either past the city or down the coast. The suburbs miss out on everything!

There's a relatively well known one called Christophers. Haven't heard too much about it - the area it's located in is kinda dodgy haha. My other option is at Sirromets, the winery up at Mt Cotton. It'd be a lovely drive I think and I've never been there to eat before. That looks like the winner so far! Unless I can think of anything else!

Food, Glorious Food

I love food. I live to eat, its a shame that D doesn't share the same love- he eats to live. It breaks my heart lol. Just had dinner at family friends place. Omg so SO full! It was chinese take away night! Quite yummy. We never get Chinese takeaway since we are a Chinese family haha so it was kind of a treat. I had 2 and 1/2 full plates! Sticky date pudding and new york baked cheesecake is lined up for dessert! I'm so ready for bed right about now!

Been getting a bit lazy with my blogging lately. Guess I'm not motivated. Went out last night with pretty much EVERYONE from work for S's farewell. Leaving us to go to Europe, forever! What an exciting adventure that lays ahead of her. I think she's a bit scared, but who wouldn't be? It's only natural.

I've discovered a new drink that makes vodka go down nicely - passionfruit, lemonade and vodka! yummyyyy! It's like a cocktail! Am waiting to hear back from a few eBay users with questions regarding the beads, charms etc that I'm going to buy to make the bracelets! Pretty excited, can't wait to make and give them to everyone. I'll see what the interest is like and I might sell them for cheap. More as a hobby for me than a business venture. I want to think up of cute designs for the little tags and maybe a name for the "store"... Will see what comes to mind when I finish them.. Any suggestions would be wonderful!

You may have seen my post on Santos Wish bracelets. Whilst looking for them on eBay (no originals, but cheaper knock offs), I stumbled across this gorgeous little YSL bracelet! I think I must have it.

I'm also, probably not going to get a Santos Wish bracelet, but a knock off (eek) that has the beads and charms. The charms themselves are actually really cheap to buy individual. So will see if I can be bothered making some myself - works out cheaper and I can make more to give out, AND I can customise to the colours/charms/combinations that I want - or if I get lazy and just buy the ones already made hehe.... But the more I think about it the more I like the idea of making my own!

Being Saintly with Santos Wish

Once again, a little late catching on but loving the concept of Santos Wish bracelets. Though they're a bit pricey for what they are and I've seen "knock off" / cheaper versions around on eBay, markets and various online stores. I have a necklace which is similar. It is silver and has Mother Mary with Baby Jesus on it. I got it from Notre Dame de Paris when we were there quite a few years ago now. Have to work all day tomorrow, bleh. But think I'll buy some Poppy Cake cupcakes for Mother's Day. Best cupcakes ever!

Sunday is of course, Mother's Day. We're having a Mother's Day dinner but the Suitcase Rummage is on at King George Square 12pm-5pm and I missed out last time! Can't wait to check it out this Sunday. Hopefully mum will want to come along too.

Also a few people from work are having their birthday celebrations this weekend. C is having his at Kaliber tmw night and L at his house on Sunday night. Will be going tomorrow night to catch up with E who I haven't seen in much too long. Plus I haven't attended a colleagues social event in awhile so I better make a bit of an effort. Not too sure about L though. As mentioned earlier, am having a Mother's Day dinner and I have to work early the next morning. Will see how it all plays out!

Obsession with Candles

Lately, I've really been into them. I used to burn my Dusk candle daily (well, nightly I guess) until I started seeing lots of black smoke and soot coming out of it. It's made of paraffin wax, which after some asking around is bad, bad, BAD for you. I'm never burning paraffin wax again. Thankfully there are many recommendations of a whole range of natural waxes - beeswax, palm oil, soy & veggie. And some popular brands of these natural waxes include Queen B, Diptyque, Ecoya & Elume. There is a candle shop near my work "The Candle Shoppe" so I decided to poke around before work one day and after being thoroughly confused by all the colours, sizes, shapes and fragrances I settle on a $30, 3.4oz WoodWick candle. 100% veggie wax with natural wick made of organic wood that crackles like a fireplace. Love! I bought Fireside Glow which I burnt for the first time last night - it is delicious without being overpowering.

D's Birthday Weekend

We both had to work Saturday so for us, the weekend started on Sunday. I picked him up after lunch and we headed into Southbank to see Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones at the Queensland Art Gallery. Was heaps of people but still fun! Pretty much anything/ everything can be a hat.

We then moved onto GoMA to take a looksie. Some great interesting pieces, the only one that I found worth of pictures was the huge rabbit. I'm pretty sure it's Thumper.. You decide for yourself!

There was also an exhibition based on the Mekong River with works from Thai, Vietnamese and Cambodian artists, very interesting and could be easily related. There was also a dialogue-less documentary about these artists on boats, going down a river in Laos and coming across the Bodhi tree. D has lately been into symbolism and he is a Buddhist, yet he didn't know what the Bodhi tree was?! I had to share the story with him. He was going to revive and expand on one of his upper arm tattoos and is now thinking of having the Bodhi tree on the underside. I think it will look nice with leaves / a light breeze blowing around it too. I think this looks pretty cool -

We then wandered across to Southbank for the Buddha Birthday Festival. I haven't been in quite a few years, it seems to have gotten smaller... We went to a free meditation class which I quite enjoyed - D really likes it, but he says he couldn't concentrate because I was there. Was constantly poking/ breathing on me when no one was looking - child hehe. The lanterns at night looked really pretty. I took this photo myself, and think it's one of the best I've taken!

We then headed off to the Emporium Cocktail lounge for a yummy drink before dinner, at The Breakfast Creek Hotel where all his friends came to surprise him - hooray! I think he had fun : ) I had also organised a cake for him too which came out with sparklers! Happy Birthday D, Love you! ♥

Verdict so far: Loving it.

When I wake up in the mornings, my face always has a thin film of oil on it, whether I moisturise or not. The only time this hasn't happened is when I was using a MD Skincare sample from Mecca which would cost me about $3 each time I used it. Eek. It worked wonders but out of my budget. The only other time I haven't woken up with oil is after using this rosehip oil the night before. It's a very VERY good start. My skin feels hydrated without the grease! It also feels softer. I'll have to wait a bit longer to hopefully see improvements in terms of pigmentation. But even if it doesn't work in that regard, I think I will keep using it as a night moisturiser.

I'm a little late jumping on the bandwagon but better late than never right?! I first came across the phenomenon on kittycate's blog post. Which was inspired by a thread on the Vogue Forums (which is now iPhone friendly! Thank you!). Basically it's for improving skin - wrinkles, premature aging, age spots, uneven pigmentation, moisture, etc. A whole range of goodies so I used my $20 Myer voucher (which was obtained from spending over $75 on the weekend - oops) to purchase the larger bottle tonight when they had their Mother's Day VIP night and Trilogy products were 25% off. Yep, I'm a super sleuth when it comes to sales and bargains, all over them like a rash.

Anyway, so I've tried it on mum and myself tonight and we'll see how we go in a week or so, hope it lives up to the hype! My skin is in terrible condition atm, has been a stressful time so am trying to nurse it back to health. Have been using my Lush Cupcake mask faithfully and I think I'll use the rosehip oil just once every evening. Will stick to my Clinique DDML for the day. Will report back with results of course! Masterchef Attempt #1: Pavlova

Masterchef has once again, partially taken over my life. I am Team Claire (cool, calm, collected, poised and ever so elegant- does she even sweat? Maybe she's not human) and Anti Adele (drama, drama, drama .. and a bit of stunned mullet facials) at this stage.

The first challenge was the Great Aussie Pavlova. And while I was watching the fumble, fail & dropping hair all over the food (Nicolette, I'm looking at you) I thought to myself "it can't be THAT hard". So I challenged myself, whilst simultaneously taking the Vogue Masterchef Challenge to make a pav. I had never made a pav before so this was my very, very first. The recipe I used was from the MC website and is as follows:

150ml egg white (approx 4 eggs)

1 cup caster sugar

2 tbs cornflour, sifted

2 tsp white vinegar

1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees C.

2. Place the egg white in the bowl of an electric mixer and whisk until stiff peaks form (I used the eggbeater, am not a big fan of the whisk). Gradually add the sugar, whisking well, until the mixture is stiff and glossy. Add the cornflour and vinegar and whisk until just combined. Shape the mixture into an 18cm round on a baking tray lined with non-stick baking paper.

3. Reduce oven to 120 degrees C and bake for 1 hour and 20 mins. Turn the oven off and allow the pavlova to completely cool in the oven.

4. Decorate with your desired toppings. (I whipped up some cream and made a raspberry coulis.)

This all went very well. Until I attempted to remove the pavlova from the baking paper. It stuck and the side cracked and crumbled and to my great shame, I threw a bit of an Adele but with less tears and more ranting and raving.

It did however, turn out ok. It was not as high as I would have liked and my decoration skills fail badly (the raspberry coulis looks like blood splatters? Let's just say I was channeling Lady Gaga. It was my Lady Gaga inspired pavlova). But for a first attempt, it wasn't too bad and it tastes wonderful! All who have tasted have unanimously agreed that I shall pass the stage and proceed to the next round. Hoorah!

Tommy Hilfiger Jenny Cable Knit but in cream. I wanted the light blue (same as pictured, but they didn't have any). Such a bargain though- dropped into Harbour Town, it had been reduced from $119 to $109 and there was a further 30% off storewide including already reduced prices. This little baby cost me a total of $76 - super happy.

Also picked up Cupcake from Lush at Pacific Fair as my skin has been extra horrible lately and I ran out a little while ago.. Will use it tonight and hope it fixes my skin soon!

I haven't been reading lately, bought a Yen Mag but that didn't interest me much and am still waiting to receive my Time Magazine subscriptions - should hopefully arrive soon it's been forever! Just feels like my brain is dying from lack of use. I'm not a fan of crosswords/sudoku type things either. I know these aren't exactly the most challenging reads but my poor brain needs to be eased back into things.

In the meantime, I better finish this off. I forgot I had it hehe.

Waiting Game

So today I attended my 2nd interview at A Company and had a short computer assessment which I hope I went ok with! Freaking out about it just a little. Had a chat with the Admin Manager and from the chat it looks like they are perfect for me, and I am perfect for them. I am yet to meet the GM though, which I would obviously have to, since if successful, I would be working with him the most. The role is Sales Coordinator but is basically a good variety of HR/ Sales/ Admin & PA work which I like the idea of. I like variety to keep things different.

So, I really hope I get it. I know a girl went in this morning to have her assessment.. So there is at least 1 other person who I am up against. I am so torn, because as much as I would love this opportunity, I feel guilty/sad leaving my current workplace! They don't know that I've been going for interviews/ halfheartedly looking for work. I feel like I'm betraying them. But it's not just that. I've been there under a year and they've taken me on and welcomed them to their little "home". I feel very much a part of the team - pretty much straight away and realistically, keeping in touch would probably be difficult. They are just such great people, all of them. I guess am privileged to have work with them. And I'm speaking too soon anyway. I will get my answer from A Company by Wednesday the latest but will have to pop in to have a quick meet with the GM sometime.

Freaking out, just a bit.

About getting/not getting the job. And then if I do get it, how to break it to work. ARGH. I'm sure they will reference check though, so that will give Current Employment some warning...

Today I went into the city to pick up Mum's belated birthday present. This Tiffany's pendant! Except since we're in Australia it spells "Mum" instead of "Mom". She love loves it! So am very pleased! It's a gorgeous pendant and just the right size.

Also stopped at a Vinnies on my way in and picked up these 2 perfect bags. Exactly what I've been looking for and it came to a grand total of $11 for the both. They're in pretty pristine condition as well, no signs on wear! I will definitely keep the black/navy one, not sure about the maroon, see how I go. The maroon one is leather whereas I think the black one is vinyl? Feels like leather anyway.

No don't worry. I haven't gone and sprouted children / grand children in the last few weeks. But despite Brisbane's autumnly 30+ degrees of late, I have been drinking bucketloads of tea. I find it so calming, soothing, comforting. And although I love the fancy herbal teas, I'm all about my mug with either a Dilmah, Tetley or Bushells tea bag hanging in it. I take mine with 2 sugars and lactose free milk. Best accompanied with cookies, shortbread is my favourite and we are in excess since we stocked up so dramatically at the post Christmas sales!

At the dear old age of 22, I have been drinking more tea than wine / vodka / other age appropriate, alcoholic drinks. Tell me I'm not the only one!

My obsession with tea, has in fact, led me to book my first ever high tea with my delightful Mamma at Joseph Alexanders for her belated birthday next Saturday. I'm looking forward to it SO MUCH!

For the first time I remember, Asos offered Australia free shipping. It would be wrong of me to not take advantage of this, since the reason I often don't go through with the orders is because of the shipping fee. There are some A-MAZING dresses on their site but I only really need basics. Gosh the pretty things were hard to resist. I narrowed it down to two items (how good am I!) and have ordered this black fair trade cotton top with pretty sleeves and the cream dress. Simple and timeless I hope!

There's heaps of sales going on over the Easter break as well. Some are Saturday only - I know Big W, Target & Harvey Norman are having clearances, and Supercheap Auto is having 20% off Storewide which is perfect - I need some new car mats and sun visor shade thing!

Not a Shoe Girl?!

Most who know me, know that I'm not big on shoes. I know I know, a disgrace to the female race. Don't get me wrong I do love a good shoe, I'm just unwilling to fork out $50+ for a pair when it's going to be tramping around on the ground. That and I always manage to ruin them somehow. I'm much more of a bag lady.

Anyway, needed some shoes for Lady Gaga this Friday. I have a S&B dress and none of my current shoes match properly. I wandered into Famous Footwear (cheap shoe shop) at my local mall and ta da! Cheap shoes. I bought these babies for $40 down from $50. They are lovely and comfortable, let's hope they last longer than the one night though! Once again, please excuse the horrific image quality.

Am currently wearing the Nail It Shortcake on my tips and Spring Fling on my toes, both with the Clear over the top. I adore Spring Fling, it's such a unique colour!
A few days (weeks?) ago, someone mentioned on the Vogue Forums that there were new autumn colours out in the ulta3 range?!?! I've been too busy to actively search for them but I stumbled across them this morning when I was picking up some medicine from my local Terry White. Their ulta3 stand had been empty since before Christmas but it has obviously been refilled, as it is now overflowing with gorgeous, gorgeous colours, including the autumn range! I picked up Flashback Fuchsia and Mulberry - don't go by this photo for the correct colouring, iPhone camera quality isn't too reliable. They are both creme and just gorgeous, can't wait to try them out. I hate HATE that we can't wear nail polish at work. I think it should be ok as long as it's not outrageous colours (bright blue, green, yellow, etc) and well kept /not chipped. GRR!

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile - super busy. So word of warning, this blog might be a bit long! Have been shopping a little bit lately.. Mimco had a 20% off sale so I bought a Mim wallet in black - love its leathery softness & a hair clip similar to this barrette but it's just the one love heart in a clip. Love it.

It was also M's 21st this week and her party is tonight in the Basement Cellar Bar at the Regatta Hotel - black and white cocktail! Might wear that Mimco clip! Few of the girls and myself chipped in to buy her a beautiful Tiffany & Co necklace. Basically similar to this picture but with two of the tags! She adores it.
Also, I don't know how many of you have seen it, but the latest Ikea TV ad is hilarious. Basically a woman is shopping and is shocked at the low prices, after she pays at the register she takes off and demands her husband to get the car to get out of there because she thinks they have charged her too little. This was me the other day as I was leaving the Post Office. I decided I needed a new stapler and went to buy a pink Smiggle one. It is supposed to be $14.95 but when I took it to the counter, I was charged $4.95 - I was out of there! It then reminded me of the ad and I had a little giggle to myself as I walked very very fast to my car hehe. Here is my lovely little stapler (& assorted desk junk).

Have not had much to blog about lately. Have been working myself into exhaustion & acting as a responsible adult / daughter / stand in mother / girlfriend. It's exhausting, oh wait, I've already mentioned that.

My lovely DM allowed me to scramble out of work an hour early on Sunday evening to see Peter Helliar at the Powerhouse in New Farm (free double pass, woot!) - quite enjoyable I must say. Great humour and no boring bits, I admire stand up comedians, it looks tough! Would love to see more comedy but Brisbane is quite dull? Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

Received my Stila Step Out & Shine set the other day - Love! The convertible colour is a full size! & Orchid is beautiful, I think I love it more than Peony. The pomegranate lip crush is also wonderful, a bit drying but smells delicious. Am yet to try the mascara and highlighter.

I used a Stile eyeliner the other day, a little one that came with one of my previously purchased packs and it's like liquid liner in a pencil! It smudged a little bit, even with primer but it doesn't budge from the waterline.

Have also been chasing Midnight Fantasy EDP (Britney Spears) for awhile now, walked past Terry White at Garden City the other day and it was $19!!! Thrilled. So bought it, I'm not a fan of celebrity fragrances but it's such a beautiful fruity, lolly scent (I'm hopeless at describing). Also bought Intimately Beckham for a friend's birthday, hope she likes it!

Still need to buy something for M's 21st. So annoyed with work ATM, everything is really getting to me. Playing fair, being available all the time & willing to help out CLEARLY isn't appreciated so Audrey saying "yes" all the time to back to backs, early starts, late finishes, split shifts - No More. In fact, when I go in this afternoon I'm requesting a bunch of days off. Some of which I know others will want off too, well TOO BAD!

D let go of his beloved Soarer a few weeks ago in exchange for this Toyota Caldina. It's a sports wagon with tonnes of room, and the best part, still has a turbo for fun times! I drove it for the first time this weekend and it was great fun! It accelerates quickly (though most things would accelerate quicker than my little Yaris) and being auto, I don't need to pause to change gears. Looking forward to driving it more, I was always too scared to drive his Soarer, too big and too much power!

I've always boycotted Rubi Shoes. Mostly because of the smell, it's so overwhelming! But my many pairs of trustworthy ballet flats have slowly died over the past year & I needed some new cheapies for running around. I scored 2 pairs for $15 - hoorah! The gunmetal ones were $5 and a nice change from black and the red ones were $10. Cute little bow, only downside is it is cloth. So no wearing it on rainy days.

While I'm here I may as well post the presents I've received for my birthday so far. Quite a few are still in the process of getting to me for various reasons. Mostly received money and gift vouchers which I love. D gave me a beautiful white gold ring with my birthstone, the Amethyst in a love heart centred with filigree around it. It's gorgeous, I love looking at it sparkle. Good friend R also gave me this delightful little Swarovski bracelet. Too cute for words.

Tomorrow marks the first day of Autumn. HOORAY! I love cold weather, this summer really did my head in. Tomorrow also marks the 3yrs and 8mths that D & I have been together. It doesn't really sound like a long time but it feels like forever. I can't imagine a life without him!

Spent the weekend at Peppers Salt at Kingscliff. Gorgeous. Beautiful resort and the service was fantastic. Unfortunately the weather didn't quite match up but a relaxing weekend nonetheless. I always find March to be such a long, long month. It's 31 days are almost too short after February's short 28! But some things that will keep me going this March:

Hello adult world, Little A is now 22 and ready to take you on. I am properly mature now! Ha. Ventured into the city today, had THE most amazing, freshest toasted flame grilled chicken wrap with tabbouleh, semi dried tomatoes & olives. Delish. Then had an AMAZING massage, oh boy did I need it but I really do think it's the best I've had so far - first time I've had this new guy - Robert. Great stuff, will defs go back for him.

Had a wander around the city, found these two little beauties at Bardot! Loving the nautical at the moment! Also loving the cool lighting effect which the change rooms give off.

Excuse the lack of pants on the last photo but I made sure I was decent & will be wearing pants with the top in public! I just didn't have anything appropriate with me at the time.

Ducked into Forever New, some great accessories which I plan on using for Lady Gaga, including heaps of great little gloves to choose from and a giant black, with silver mesh headband. It's much better than it sounds & so fitting for the occasion. FN also has a magnificent little black bag which is everything I could ask for in a bag. The item name is The Audrey. Will have to go back for that one.

Then ventured to the Farmers Markets at the top of Queen Street Mall. Apparently Matt Moran was there but I would have missed him by the time I got there. Picked up some lovely Italian sausages with fennel which I plan on making for Friday's night dinner when we get down to Kingscliff hooray!!

PS. How CUTE is my brother, he snuck out sometime, bought me a birthday card and slipped me some money - he's only 15. I thought it was the most adorable thing ever!

A. Hopelessly unorganised & unfocussed yet loveable, at times.. When she could be reached on her mobile which was very rare. Full of life yet scared of living?

J1. A sheep. A follower. Someone dyes their hair red, she'll do the same. Someone will get a fringe, she'll do the same. Someone joins a gym, she'll do the same. Maybe it's just a coincidence but it's happened far too many times. J1 has no thoughts of her own? Is disliked by everyone else in this Sad Little Group yet clings on in the hope that she will one day be liked, rather than just tolerated. Who wants "friends" like that?

B. Another follower, but very very strange. Draws attention from the oddest people and despite her efforts, is definitely a tomboy at heart. Constant negativity is her biggest downfall.

T. Also negative, lacks excitement/enthusiasm for life, goals, dreams & aspirations. These are what make people, people. Life really isn't that bad - you have no idea what "bad" really is.

J2. Materialistic, with french fry coloured hair, lacks focus and personality. Tries to dress to impress - you can take the girl out of the bogan, but you can't take the bogan out of the girl. This is can be confirmed by looking at the state of her house.

L. Odd, odd character. Talks a little funny in fits & starts and moves in a strange way? A strange personality in general. Tries to be in control.. But isn't?

All in all, Sad Little Group all look the same, think the same and do the same. Dress the same, shop at the same places, eat at the same restaurants and talk about the same things. Date the same circle of boys who are disgusting and lack respect for females. They lack life experiences, culture & the valuable experiences gained from travel. Not all are privileged when it comes to travel but at the age of 22 going on 23, surely you would have ventured outside of your own state? But some have not done so, let alone crossed the borders of our Great Country. They have not lived, which is why, sometime around the middle of last year, I just got too fed up of pretending I cared when there is so much more that the hours, minutes and seconds of my life can be dedicated towards. I'm sure we all know someone who falls into one of these categories or similar, whether it be a loved, hated or tolerated one. Let them go, you won't regret it.

I adore this place. It's atmosphere, the decor, it's signature drink - The Lychee Martini and it's wonderful, wonderful food. Consistently amazing, Lychee Lounge always guarantees for a fantastic night. I am yet to check out it's newest sibling, Laruche. I will get around to it soon.

My favourite food to have there is their tapas. Last night we shared the crushed potato chips with tomato jam & aoli, the most delectable lamb cutlets which I have EVER tasted. They literally melted in my mouth.. Beautiful salt and pepper squid and the honeyed pork belly. Also tried a bit of D's pad thai which had wonderful flavour and B's fish of the day, barramundi looked amazing. I didn't take photos as I only had my iPhone with me and it was quite dark inside. Photos would have never done it justice. Please, for the love of Lychee, all Brisbane-ites, check it out ASAP!

Lately I have much preferred going out - anywhere - on a weeknight rather than a weekend. Movies, dinner, drinks. It's just so much easier and better! Parking is no hassle. The drink and food come quicker due to less people. In fact I'm certain the food is better because they've had more time to prepare it rather than rushing it out the doors. That and it's easier to talk as opposed to yelling. Weeknight outings just feel so much more chic to me! In other matters, went to Lychee Lounge for dinner tonight. A-mazing as always. They never fail me

So I was thinking last night, I really want to go to the races! I haven't been in years and even then it wasn't that magnificent.. But it will be different this time! I loathe the idea of going to the Ekka Races, I find that completely pointless but I think the Girls or Ladies days which they have every now and then would be fun! The next one is at the end of March, day after Lady Gaga! Which is the day after Bacardi Express mmmm big weekend! Fun times. Thinking of a dress/ headpiece already :)

Also, so many more upcoming things which I would lovee to go to including the Buddha Festival at Southbank (first weekend of May) - haven't been to that in years as well, I used to love it, and the Caxton Street Seafood & Wine Festival.. However these two events always fall on the same weekend ! I think the boy will be more interested in the Buddha fest.. The reason why we haven't been these past few years (actually I don't think we've gone to one together yet!) is because it's also the same weekend as his birthday! & we usually have other plans.

I know I'm a few days late. But late is better than never right! Happy new year everyone ^_^ the occasion marks a wonderful restart to 2010 I finally feel contented. Everything which I have control over has gone the way I want it to and life is headed in the right direction. I can finally focus on things I really care about and progressing forwards rather than pretending I care about people and things when I don't. Carrying on unecessary relationships that you don't care about zap too much energy! Which could be used for much more important things in my life. What more appropriate time to refresh than the Year of the Tiger!

And with that I'll leave you my traits as a Dragon in the Chinese Astrology.. It's pretty spot on I must say! -

Sorry I haven't been blogging my lovelies. Have been super busy and a lot has been going on. My Valentines Day was lovely - thought it could have been better.. D had planned on taking me to Byron Bay, but we wouldn't have made it back for me to get to work in time so we had to postpone, we had sushi and played in a park instead. I received a gorgeous little button, dangly toy, some yummy bath products and an inspirational "Courage" wall banner (I'm so bad at describing things, will post photos eventually) with a wonderful quote by Nelson Mandela. I am yet to find it an appropriate hanging spot in my room because it is quite big! But as promised, pictures coming soon so stay posted. Unexpected Beach Day

D invaded my room this morning whilst I was in sweet slumber because he had gone to TAFE but classes were cancelled. After jumping on my bed he announced that we were going Burleigh Heads to look at a car (for him) and to play on the beach. It was the perfect day! Warm and the water was beautiful. I also got to wear my new bikini! I lovee the beach. It's so relaxing, just sitting on the sand calms me down and makes me happy again. Burleigh is my favourite, not too busy (except for weekends) and much better than crowded Surfers & Broadbeach.

Mum & I had a peek today at the CBD store & it's soo cute. They have adorable yet quirky little pieces. Am lemming their travel mugs. Whether I actually have use for it would be another story though. It looks like their website is still under construction? Anyway, if you haven't already, definitely have a peek I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I only dropped in to grab a Batiste Dry Shampoo & some Lucas Paw Paw Ointment since they were on special this week. But as usual, was instantly drawn to the "Clearance" rack, where I sifted through to find this little beauty. Originally $40, reduced to $25, reduced again to $15 and since they had 20% off all womens tops, it came to a grand total of $12. I also tried on the white but it didn't seem right, I liked the navy better - what do you think? ^ sorry about the quality of the photos, as you can see it was on my iPhone & the lighting was pretty terrible in the change rooms hehe. Anyway, I think it's an adorable little bargain!

Since I was young I loved watching the various fashion shows which they'd screen on free to air TV. Bridal & Couture were my favourite which just proves what a girlie girl I am, right from the start. The latest Viktor & Rolf Spring/Summer 2010 is right up my alley! Some snippets of my favourites:

Facebook Stalking. I know you do it, you know I do it.. That's why we have it right. Soo I was doing my usual boredom-stalk, clicking around photos here & there which has led me to this post. It's always interesting what you find, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Sometimes shocking, sometimes not. It's mostly entertaining & gives you something trivial to dwell on for a short amount of time. The amount of dirt you can find on there is also entertaining! Surprising that so many users still haven't either caught on, or don't care about the privacy settings! Mine are on lock down baby, there ain't no stalking of me unless you're a friend!

Bleary Eyes

Hence the lack of posts recently, I have been aiming for one a day to keep it fresh but I don't want to post just anything, that would be meaningless. Have been working mornings the past few days & anyone who knows me, knows I don't do mornings! It's a struggle hehe. That & I've been having trouble getting to sleep so have only managed 4 or 5hrs these past few nights. Though I don't think I'll have any trouble sleeping tonight I'm practically typing this with my eyes shut! I have an evening shift tomorrow which will be nice! The three days off after that will be even nicer I think!

Am hoping the weather will clear up, bought some super cute bikinis the other day because they were heavily reduced at Myer. Was surprised there was even anything in smaller sizes left! It's a bandeau top with removable straps (already removed - don't want nasty tan lines on my shoulders hehe) and they have a blue & green floral pattern. Can't wait to wear them to the beach!

Travels

I love travelling. The new sights, sounds, people and experiences are all something I treasure dearly. D & I are thinking of Malaysia & China for next year. March - May is apparently the best time for China, my parents are going this June so will see how they go before we finalise our decision! There's just so much to see there, and to learn about. So much culture & history. I like travelling to places to explore and to experience them - not to snap photos and be off. That type of tourism kind of disgusts me.. What's the point? I'm so glad D & I share the same views about travelling. Mass tours -ugh. The only time I'd do it, is when going somewhere, where a bit more caution is needed, ie. South Africa, Egypt, Middle East.

So that will be a big-ish sort of trip for us next year, will still be cheap since it is Asia afterall. I think the plan is to stay local/domestic this year, but I honestly really feel like an island holiday.. Might look into a 1wk cruise for later in the year..

I had booked a 1 bedroom suite for David & myself for my birthday & invited my family to join & they have decided to stay the 2 nights with us too. Well I felt terrible about making them sleep in the living room & not be able to have breakfast with us, so I called earlier & now have us upgraded to a 2 bedroom with breakfast for 4. It was only an extra $40 so well worth it! Looking forward to it very much now. I usually stay with Mantra but thought I'd give Peppers a go this time, they're both part of the Stella Accommodation group anyway.
